Happy 62nd Independence day anniversary to all Ghanaians



The Republic of Ghana celebrates her 62nd Independence today.

Some facts about Ghana you should know:

1. Ghana became independent of the United Kingdom on 6th March 1957
2. Ghana means warrior king in the Soninke language
3.Ghana has a land mass of 238,535 km2 (92,099 sq mi)
4. Ghana is located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean in the Sub region of West Africa
5.Ghana is bordered by the Ivory Coast in the West, Burkina Faso in the North, Togo in the East and the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean in the South
6. Ghana is a member of the Economy Community Of  West African States (ECOWAS)
7. Nana Akufo Addo is the Ghanaian president
8. The most well known traditional attire of the Ghanaian is the Kente cloth
9. Accra is the seat of Government and Capital city
10. Kumasi is the Traditional centre of the kingdom of Ashanti
11. Obuasi is the Earth's 9th largest gold mine location; and Mining town
12.Ghana has the largest waterfall in West Africa called the Wli Waterfalls
13. In 2011, Forbes magazine published that Ghana was ranked the 11th most  friendly country in the world
14. The Ghana currency is Ghana Cedi
15The largest ethnic groups are the Akan (47.3 percent) as reported by 2010 census
16. English is the official language in Ghana
